Land van Cuijk city council visits Eiwitcampus
A look behind the scenes! We regularly visit other initiatives to exchange knowledge. On March 15, however, it was the other way around!

AgriFood Capital NOB took the council of the municipality of Land van Cuijk to Eiwitcampus. An interesting afternoon where also Myrthe Theunissen-de Jong of Basic Theory B.V. and Merlijn Chardon of Multiphase Dryers showed their beautiful company!
AgriFood Capital invited the council of the municipality of Land van Cuijk to our Campus as part of 'AgriFood Capital in Bedrijf'. Both organizations have a more sustainable economy on the agenda and we all want to create a well-functioning ecosystem in Northeast Brabant (and of course beyond) to develop the food chains of the future. Preferably together with companies, knowledge institutions and governments. Alderman Maarten Jilisen opened the meeting and elaborated on the importance of the agrifood sector in Land van Cuijk. Marco and Inge then took the audience through the developments of Eiwitcampus to date and the vision that has emerged: building the world of tomorrow by stimulating innovative agri-food organizations engaged in transitions to a more sustainable agricultural sector. Connecting, facilitating and inspiring are central to this in the training, knowledge and business center.
The innovation themes in which Eiwitcampus wants to make an impact focus on animal and plant proteins, biobased economy, circular agriculture and sustainable energy. There are already a number of companies that are working on these themes and were happy to give the public present that afternoon a guided tour. First of all, Merlijn Chardon gave a tour of his company Multiphase Dryers. By developing dryers to affordably dry residual products from food production, Merlijn, as a food innovator, wants to help companies take an extra step in circularity. Afterwards, the group of guests were allowed to listen and taste with Myrthe Theunissen-de Jong of Basic Theory. She explained how the fermented products are created and where they are used. Their biggest challenge is currently scaling up production of their flavourful products.
Simon Maas of AgriFood Capital closed the afternoon by once again emphasizing how much beauty can be achieved in the region when all the different parties work together. Afterwards it was time for some more informal interaction during the drinks; a successful and interesting afternoon!
