Marco Smits, agricultural entrepreneur at heart
Marco was educated at Elzendaalcollege in Boxmeer and the MAS in Cuijk. As entrepreneur he focused on pig farming, agriculture and food and beverage recycling. At the University of London, he followed the Advanced Course in Agricultural Business Management. For fifteen years, he has been involved in sustainability through biofermentation and reuse of residual flows.
Driving force and point of contact
Developing, innovating and building connections are central values for Marco. Raised in Wanroij, close to De Peel, and always looking for new opportunities. Marco, owner of the former K.I. Station in Beers, had the plan to transform the complex into a theoretical and practical center for protein production and circular agriculture. This has since become Eiwitcampus Beers and is broader than protein alone.
Inge Smits, connector and go-getter
Growing up with a passion for the food and agricultural sector, Inge learned from an early age the importance of cooperation and innovation. With a background in business administration at Wageningen University, she experienced how empowering it is to bring various parties together for positive change. Success isn’t achieved only by implementation of power alone; communicating a concept is like compost for a plant - essential for growth and flowering.
Community builder and communications manager
At Eiwitcampus, Inge enjoys using her strengths and energy in connecting people and organisations and in getting things done. She believes that where change might cause friction, there are opportunities to work together and exploit each other's strengths. Because when we join forces, we can truly make the world a better place!
